Veterinarian (Veteriner):
Do you love animals? So do veterinarians! Veterinarians are doctors for animals. They examine and care for animals, give them vaccinations and treat their illnesses.
The veterinarians that you may be familiar with often care for cats and dogs, but vets can also treat birds, horses, reptiles, farm animals and zoo animals!
Veterinarians can care for animals in different ways. Many examine and treat pets in animal hospitals, while others work in big specialty hospitals where they see animals who are having a medical emergency or who have a problem that requires extra care. Other veterinarians work on farms, in zoos, at vet schools or in laboratories.
Did you know there are vets who specialize in the skin (dermatologists), the heart (cardiologist), x-rays (radiologists), the brain (neurologists) and more? Just like doctors for people!
Painter (Ressam) :
A painter is an artist who works with different kinds of paint, usually on canvas or paper, to create pictures. A painter might use watercolor (which gives a lighter finish), acrylic (synthetic or manufactured paint) or oil paints (which consist of pigment, or color, suspended in oil.)
Some painters teach classes at art programs or colleges or museums; others might be hired to do illustrations for books or magazines. Others paint portraits of individual people or families. (More portrait painters were probably hired before cameras made it easy to snap a family photograph!)
Sometimes painters are lucky enough to sell their paintings to private collectors, galleries, or museums. If they’re really lucky (and, one assumes, very talented), they’ll get a commission they’ll be hired to paint a particular picture for a sum of money!
Sculptors (Heykeltraş) :
Sculptors are artists who often work with hard materials like marble, glass, metal, wood or stone to create three-dimensional works of art, like statues. They can also use materials like fabric, clay, gold, or rubber. A sculptor’s job is to carve or assemble the material into a particular form.
Hard materials are generally carved with tools called chisels. Different kinds of chisels are used to carve away the stone, shape the forms, and finish the details. Depending on the materials used, a sculptor may also use techniques ranging from sewing to molding to cutting.
Sculptures often show historical figures as well as figures from myths and stories, but they can also be abstract shapes and forms that don’t represent a particular object, but instead may represent the artist’s mood or feelings, or an exploration of the use of different forms. Some sculptures are painted, but they often lose their paint over time.
For many hundreds of years, some form of stone was the main material used for a sculpture. These days, the word “sculpture” can also mean works of art made with light or sound; or even moving water! The artist Pablo Picasso used bicycle parts to make a sculpture, and many sculptors use natural materials like tree bark and leaves.
Doctor (Doktor):
Being a doctor comes with a lot of responsibility. A doctor’s patients rely on their physician for the best medical help possible!
There are lots of different kinds of doctors. General Practitioners, Family Doctors, and Pediatricians (doctors just-for-kids) are the types most people see on a regular basis for things like the flu, a fever, a check-up or physical, a vaccination, and other common needs. Other doctors specialize in specific health fields or particular body systems. Some examples of specialists include cardiologists (heart and blood), dermatologists (skin), allergists and immunologists (allergic reactions and immune system), neurologists (brain and nervous system), and internists (internal organs). There are also surgeons, whose specialty is performing operations!
Not all doctors do the same thing every day. Some doctors work in an office, others in the hospital, and some in places you might not think of, like laboratories where they develop new medicines and research cures! Doctors see patients, run and interpret tests, prescribe medicines or treatments, talk to patients about how to stay healthy, respond to emergencies, and regularly read books and medical journals or take classes to keep their knowledge up-to-date! Most doctors work very long hours and have to be available for emergencies.
Nurse (Hemşire):
Nurses do a huge range of important things that help keep people healthy, make them better when they’re sick, and support patients and their families!
Nurses work in lots of different places like hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics, people’s homes, schools, camps, and more! Depending on where he or she works and the level of training they’ve had, a nurse can do a big variety of different things. Some nurses take temperatures, give shots, administer medicines, and check patients’ blood pressure and pulse. Other nurses might prescribe medications, order tests, and help diagnose a patient’s problem. There are nurses who assist doctors during surgery, and nurses who help deliver babies!
Lots of nurses work closely with patients and families, helping them, supporting them, and educating them about things they need to know take care of their illnesses and stay healthy and happy!
Mailman (Postacı) :
There are different types of Postal Workers who all have slightly different tasks that they spend their day doing. Clerks, for example, generally work in the post office and help people in line with buying postage, sending mail, and collecting packages. “Behind the scenes” at the post office are the Sorters, who work alongside sorting machines to organize and sequence the mail according to the address where it’s going. Then, of course, there are the Mail Carriers, who deliver the mail to the homes or businesses where it’s going! In some areas, Mail Carriers travel by foot while in others they drive in a small truck or a car. Mail Carriers also collect mail that people want to send out and bring it back to the Post Office for sorting and shipping!
In the U.S., billions of letters are mailed and delivered by Postal Workers every week! Mailmen must often work long hours, starting early in the morning or finishing late in the evening, to help all of our letters to get to their destinations on time. Next time you send something in the mail, think about all of the workers along the way who will help it arrive on the other end!
Teacher (Öğretmen):
Teachers plan lessons, which means they spend time finding fun and interesting ways to introduce their students to new information and make sure they understand it. Teachers enjoy getting to know their students and figuring out how they learn best.
Teachers also spend time grading papers, making tests, writing report cards and talking with their students’ parents to let them know how well their children are doing in class. By talking with parents, teachers can also learn more about their students and figure out the best way to help them if need be.
Teachers meet with the grown-ups at their school, like the principal and other teachers. They share ideas and find new ways to make their school a great place.
There are teachers for small children, teachers for elementary, middle and high school kids, and even teachers for college kids and grown-ups!
Pilot :
Pilots are the men and women who fly airplanes and helicopters! A pilot’s plane will often carry passengers (like when you take a trip by plane) but can also sometimes carry cargo or mail. Some pilots also work in planes or helicopters that help police, medical professionals, or firefighters respond to emergencies. Other times pilots work in testing planes or as part of the military. Agricultural pilots work in special planes or helicopters that fly low to the ground and help spread seeds, fertilizers, or pesticides for farmers.
Flying a plane involves a lot more than just steering! A pilot’s job also includes checking the plane to make sure all of its equipment is working properly, planning the route for the flight, calculating the plane’s speed and altitude (height up in the air), and following weather patterns and forecasts! A pilot must also, of course, guide the plane through its takeoff and landing and must monitor the plane’s many gauges and computerized systems while up in the air.
Because pilots are responsible for the safety of themselves and any other crew or passengers on board, pilots are specially trained and licensed before they are allowed to fly. Pilots must also pass medical tests to confirm that their vision and hearing is good. Once a pilot has all of the needed licenses and has passed all of the required tests, it’s up… up… and away!
Librarian (Kütüphaneci) :
You’ve probably been in at least one library in your life–maybe more. You’ve also no doubt seen people working in the library—checking out your books for you, putting books back on their selves, maybe looking up information on a computer. These are the librarians, and they’re the ones who take care of all those books.
Today, a librarian’s job has many different parts. Librarians need to love books, but more and more, they also need to know how to use technology.
A big part of their job is to help connect people to all the information in the library. That means showing people how to use all the different resources in a library, from computers to card catalogs to websites.
Librarians choose the books for the library, so they may manage a budget, decide which books to buy, order them, and then take care of the books. They need to know the right way to put them on the shelves, or catalogue them. Special systems are used to keep track of all the books, and librarians have to know the different systems and where to find the books so that people can find the books when they want to!
The next time you’re in a library, give the librarians an extra smile they’re probably doing a lot more than you realize all so you can discover incredible books!
Scientist (Bilimadamı):
Scientists are people who try to figure out how the many different things in our world and our universe work. This includes scientists who study the biggest galaxies to those who study the tiniest atoms! Scientists use special methods to examine what they’re studying by proposing an explanation to a question or problem, collecting evidence and running tests, and then forming a conclusion based on the results!
A scientist might work in a laboratory, out in nature, at a special office, as a professor, as a writer or journalist, and more! To answer puzzling questions, scientists might do everything from performing tests and collecting surveys to brainstorming and daydreaming! Scientists use all kinds of different tools for their jobs: Computers, telescopes, microscopes, rulers, thermometers, barometers, scales, beakers and test tubes, and much more!
Farmer (Çiftçi):
Some farmers raise animals like cows, chickens and fish. Other farmers raise plants like fruits, vegetables and grains. There are even farmers who grow plants for people to enjoy in their gardens! Farmers make a living by selling their plants, animals and animal products.
Being a farmer is hard work! Farmers care for their animals by giving them food and water. They plant and harvest crops. They make sure their plants and animals stay healthy. They also take care of the machines that help them farm, like tractors and plows.

Many lawyers spend their time meeting with clients, preparing legal documents (like wills, contracts, and leases), and attending trials. At a trial, the lawyer represents his or her client and either defends the client against charges, or prosecutes (brings charges against) the accused. More than anything else, lawyers usually spend a lot of their time doing research! Because the law is constantly changing, lawyers must spend time staying up-to-date on information to give their clients the best advice possible!
Police / Police Officer (Polis /Polis Memuru):
The job of a Police Office is very important! Because law enforcement is needed all the time, Police Officers work during the night and on weekends and holidays. Some Police Officers spend their days patrolling on foot or in special vehicles, looking for any types of law violations, handing out tickets, and responding to emergencies. At other times, Police Officers work on investigations or make arrests. They also must write up reports and sometimes appear in court.
Police work can be tense and dangerous. Police Officers must be attentive at all times so they can respond as needed in emergencies, and they must work in all kinds of weather conditions, too. To become a Police Officer, you usually must go through special training at a police academy to learn about things like law, investigations, and self-defense. Police Officers must pass exams to show fitness and need to have characteristics like honesty and good judgment to help them perform their difficult job!
Biologist (Biyolog) :
A biologist is a scientist who studies living things. For example, biologists may learn about how animals behave, what diseases they get, and how they are affected when their land and water is used by humans. When you think about all of the different types of plants and creatures on our planet, you can only imagine how many different types of biologists there are!
Some biologists spend time in nature observing animals. For example, there are biologists who study insects and biologists who study birds. Some biologists spend time in classrooms teaching! Others spend their days doing research in a lab.
There are biologists who study tiny creatures like one-celled amoebas, and there are biologists who study large creatures like elephants. While biologists can specialize in many different areas, there are things they all have in common. For example, these scientists are hard-working, and they are curious about the world around them!
Electrical Engineer (Elektrik Mühendisi)
Electrical engineers design new and better electronics. They also test equipment and solve problems. A project starts by deciding what the new electronics will do. Then, the engineer designs the circuits and other parts of the electronics. Engineers might draw their designs using a computer.
Later, the engineers test their designs and make them better. Many projects don’t work at first. The engineers have to figure out why and then fix them.
Electrical engineers work on many kinds of products. They might work on cars, robots, cell phone systems, the lighting and wiring in buildings, and radar and navigation systems.
Some examples of high-tech projects that electrical and electronics engineers work on are global positioning systems that can pinpoint a car’s location, giant generators that can power entire cities, or a new design for an airplane’s electrical system.
Engineers work in offices, labs, or industrial plants.
Acrobat (Akrobat) :
They are masters of balance! They jump, tumble, climb, and fly through the air using equipment such as trampolines, tightropes and trapezes! They are acrobats, entertainers who use their flexibility and strength to perform amazing feats.Different types of acrobats include gymnasts, trapeze artists, tightrope walkers, and flexible athletes called contortionists.
Many acrobats are circus performers who travel the world, sharing their talents with audience after audience. Some acrobats get to work with animals, performing with creatures like elephants and horses. Not to mention, acrobatic skills are a part of athletics such as rhythmic gymnastics, in which competitors combine elements of gymnastics and dance. Being an acrobat takes a great deal of hard work and determination. Long days filled with training and performing are the norm, and acrobats who are part of traveling shows spend a lot of time away from home.
On the other hand, many acrobats feel that performing is “in their blood.” It’s a way of life that is very rewarding to them. Some acrobats are members of families that have been performing for years, and for others, the entertainers and athletes they perform with become like family!
Bus Driver (Otobüs Şoförü):
The job of a bus driver goes beyond just steering the bus! There are lots of different bus drivers who drive different types of vehicles, from school buses to public transportation buses to tour buses and more!
Bus drivers are responsible for the safety of their passengers, which can sometimes be as many as 100 people! Because of traffic and weather problems, the job of a bus driver can sometimes be difficult!
Dancer (Dansçı) :
Dancers use their bodies to express feelings, ideas, stories and rhythms. They regularly perform, often on stage in front of an audience. Some dancers perform with a group, and some perform alone. Some perform live, as in a Broadway show, while others perform in movies, music videos, and other pre-recorded programs.
Dancers may specialize in a variety of dance forms, such as ballet, tap, jazz and folk. Rehearsing is an important part of dance, and performers may work long hours, especially if their shows are in the evenings or on weekends. Some dancers also sing and act. Others become dance teachers who train students to perform or choreographers who create new dances!
Dentist (Diş Hekimi):
Dentists care for their patients’ teeth by treating problems that exist and by giving patients the knowledge and tools they need to keep their teeth healthy in the future. For example, dentists remind their patients about the importance of brushing, flossing and eating foods that are tooth-friendly! A dentist examines the teeth, gums and mouth tissue of patients with help from equipment such as mouth mirrors and X-rays. Filling cavities, removing tooth decay, fitting patients with crowns and dentures, and pulling teeth when necessary are examples of the many duties of a dentist!
Potter (Çömlekçi) :
A potter makes different objects out of clay; these include earthenware (pottery fired at low temperatures, which stays porous until it is gazed) and stoneware (pottery fired at very high temperatures, which is almost non-porous).
Potters shape clay, fire it and then glaze it they apply a glossy coating that decorates or colors the object and can also strengthen and waterproof it.
What kinds of objects do potters make? Decorative objects, like figurines, and also objects that are used in daily life, like vases, mugs, plates, even jewelry. The objects are often formed on a potter’s wheel.
Architect (Mimar):
Architects design houses and buildings. They plan offices and apartments. They design schools, churches, and airport terminals. Their plans involve far more than a building’s looks. They must ensure that buildings are safe and strong and that they suit the needs of the people who use them.
The architect and client first discuss what the client wants. The architect sometimes helps decide if a project would work at all or if it would harm the environment. The architect then creates drawings for the client to review. They may be involved in all stages of the construction of a building.
If the ideas are OK, the architect draws up the final plans. These plans show how the building will look and how to build it. The drawings show the beams that hold up the building. They show the air-conditioner, furnace, and ventilating systems. The drawings show how the electricity and plumbing work. Architects used to use pencil and paper to draw their plan, but today most architects use computers. Architects generally work in comfortable conditions because they spend most of their time in offices. However, they spend some time at building sites to see how projects are going.
Architects may feel stressed sometimes. Most architects work 40 hours a week, but they may need to work nights and weekends in order to meet deadlines.
TV Producer (TV Yapımcısı) :
A TV Producer’s job is to coordinate almost all of the many different things needed to make and film a show! Producers organize scripts, book special guests, do research, and keep the show in its budget. They also coordinate between the people who write the show, act in it, report for it, design its sets, collect its props, check its lighting, pick out its costumes, and more! A television show’s producer can be a lot like the glue that holds it all together!
To do their job well, TV Producers have to be organized and creative at solving problems. – It’s thanks to their hard work that we can watch the shows we love!
Astronaut
An astronaut is someone who is trained to operate or work aboard spacecraft. Many of these people work for government-sponsored space programs, although in the early 21st century, private firms began working in space as well. Astronauts are often figures of awe and admiration in their communities, and this adulation is well deserved; they endure grueling schedules and training programs for years before they are even allowed to go into space. They are also at the peak of physical fitness, and most are extremely intelligent.
Astronaut specializes in space travel and exploration. An astronaut is put in to space, orbit in a satellite, on other planet or moon to carry out scientific experiments and observations.the result of his/her observation and experiment is sent to earth where we analyse the result.this helps us to know more about the earth, space, other planets, etc.
Spy (Casus):
A spy is a person who secretly collects and reports information on the plans of an enemyor competitor. Usually, a spy is hired by the government as a secret agent to watch certain people or groups. Most spies try to protect their country, government and citizen from any danger. However, some spies try to get secret information to harm other people.
For this reason, the work of a spy can be dangerous. A spy does not always know who is also watching them, what dangers they could run into, or what problems could stop them from getting secret information. Luckily, good spies that work to protect people are specially trained by the government to learn about the tricks bad spies may use against them. Some of these spy tricks include using fake names, secret hiding spaces, secret signals and special technologies.
The work of a spy is not like most other adults. Because their work can be different every day, many spies to do not live in one place or go into an office to work. Instead, they travel around the world and work at all hours of the day. Their work ends when they get the secret information.
Inventor (Mucit) :
Inventors are people who come up with new ideas for items, products, systems, or machines; an inventor’s idea is his or her invention. Inventions are successful when they provide people with something new and useful that doesn’t yet exist, or when they solve a problem with a new method or technique.
Being an inventor can be challenging, because it can take many, many tries and a very long time to get a new invention right! To be an inventor, you must be creative. Inventors think about the problems they see and how to create something new that would fix them! Inventors also look at existing things, and try to brainstorm about ways a new invention could improve them. When possible, an inventor in the early stages of a new invention will build or draw a sample of the idea. Inventors must also think about how their invention might help people, and who would want to buy or use it if it was real. An inventor must then either start a business to make their new invention, or sell the idea to someone else who can make it for them!
Most importantly inventors must try, try again! Great inventions can take time. Keep on thinking in new and different ways until you ge
